About Zoya Lu

Zoya Lu is a certified yoga instructor, trained in India. She teaches yoga in its ancient and traditional purity -- yet in a modern scientific framework.

Zoya began her yoga practice as a means of staying fit and healthy while she was pursuing challenging international trading career in Taiwan. Yoga practice helped her to manage the physical and emotional stresses of her job - consistent back pain and anxiety that she experienced at that time. She soon realized that the value of yoga is much greater than what it can do for one's body or mind. Zoya credits yoga with bringing a whole new spiritual dimension into her life and a definite change into her consciousness. Her rewards from the practice of yoga inspired her to share it with others.

Zoya has completed a number of teacher-training courses in India which include classical hatha yoga, tantric yoga and swara yoga, yoga therapy, and yoga philosophy, courses of prenatal and postnatal yoga. She has also learned different meditation techniques as vipassana, mantra meditation and yoga nidra to name a few. She has experienced practice of asanas and pranayamas of different styles (Anusara, Ashtanga, Kundalini, Bikram, Iyengar, etc) at various studios in Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, India, the UK and the USA.

Today Zoya is happy to share her passion of yoga with people in Malta where she’s been residing with her husband for the past three years.

At Metageum: Tantric yoga classes

Zoya believes that yoga is for everyone, no matter what their age or limitations may be, and enjoys customizing her classes to accommodate a variety of conditions.

Her tantra yoga classes help to balance and coordinate the functions of the lower charkas and lead to experiencing the realms of higher charkas. With time and perseverance the practice of tantra yoga can change the internal state of mind and consciousness.

The classes usually include:

  • preparatory exercises (pawanamuktasana) to limber the joints and improve circulation,
  • physical postures and exercises (asanas) to develop muscular tone and greater awareness,
  • gestures (mudras) and chanting (mantras) to awaken and redirect nervous energy,
  • locks (bandhas) to control the flow of energy,
  • deep relaxation (yoga nidra) to dive into the subconscious and unconscious levels of the mind,
  • breathing exercises (pranayama) to increase lung capacity and cleanse the energy of the body
  • meditation to balance the mind.

The classes are designed to be safe for beginners and rewarding for more advanced students.
