About Kris Attard
Kris Attard is a personal development teacher from Malta who conducts workshops around the world, his main areas of focus being training in intuition, creativity and mind dynamics.
He has taught in over ten countries to audiences ranging from public and specialised groups to top multi-national corporations. He is the senior Instructor of the MindScape system, an Edward de Bono Six Hats Trainer and a certified Systems Thinking & NLP consultant. Kris' training background also includes BioGeometry and esoteric philosophy. He enjoys exploring ancient wisdom, with Sacred Geometry being one of the subjects he teaches internationally.
Kris has had a deep affinity for the ancient temples of Malta and Gozo since childhood. He has been researching the correlations of sacred geometry patterns within the temple structures for the last two years. This work, which is to be published soon, forms the basis of his Metageum '07 presentation Sacred Shapes: Sacred Geometry from the World's Oldest Temples.
SACRED SHAPES & DIVINE PROPORTIONS
Sacred Geometry in the Temples of Malta
Like other ancient civilizations, the Maltese megalithic temple builders had an intuitive awareness of nature and the universal forces that shape it, an awareness that was both physical and metaphysical, and formed the basis of their spiritual beliefs and practices. But besides being reflected in a culture that revered nature's fertility and animism, it can also be found expressed through the actual forms and dimensions of its temples and statuary. As this talk demonstrates, many of the shapes, dimensional proportions and alignments in the Maltese temples incorporate elements of sacred geometry.
Sacred geometry is the ancient study of symbols, forms and geometrical ratios which, since as early as Pythagoras, Plato and the ancient Egyptians, were recognised as resonances with archetypal forces that were a fundamental part of the blueprint of life itself. These elements occur throughout all strata of life, from the structure of flowers and our own bodies, to energy dynamics, planetary orbits and our own DNA. They were also considered to be connected with our perception of harmony and beauty. Throughout the years, the study of sacred geometry was afforded importance by mystics and philosophers to the extent that its forms and canons were methodically integrated into architecture, art and spiritual practises. Some of the finest examples still seen today are the majestic European cathedrals from the Rennaissance periods, as well as many classic works of art by renowned masters.
Yet could the concepts of sacred geometry have been known and used, albeit subconsciously, even earlier? In this research work, Kris Attard demonstrates how sacred geometrical forms, ratios and symbols may be integrated within the structures of Maltese temples and artefacts. This could help expand our paradigm of these ancient people to a more holistic one, and lead us to appreciate more their intuitive metaphysical awareness of nature: an awareness which they subconsciously expressed in the shapes of their sacred structures.
