Call for Papers
This is an international interdisciplinary conference on approaches to understanding the thinking and imagination of the prehistoric people who built the Megalithic temples. Topics will cover archaeological evidence, and models based on entheogen use, altered states of consciousness, dream incubation, shamanism, and acoustics of Megalithic chambers.
Papers and presentations are invited on archaeological evidence, or theoretical interpretations of it, which illumine the mental world of the Neolithic people.
Under the rubric of consciousness studies, are the themes of:
- The nature of altered states of consciousness.
- The possible role of psychotropic plants in early religion and shamanism.
- Whether psychotropic plants are genuinely entheogenic (ie veridical of some spiritual reality) or merely entoptic (artefacts of the brain and mind).
- The induction of visions in the sensory deprivation conditions of underground chambers.
- The induction of altered states of consciousness through acoustics.
- The perception of unusual acoustic conditions in Megalithic chambers.
- The relationship of entoptic and entheogenic visions to art production.
- Mental models of astronomy.
There are now only very remaining available time-slots. If you still wish to make a submission, please do so as soon as possible. Please submit a 500-word abstract of your paper to peter.b.lloyd at fencroft.com, or an outline of other form of presentation.
